Rebrand work for Living Libations, a Canadian cosmetic/essential oil brand which uses all-natural, fair trade, raw, organic, and GMO free ingredients to create their products. While there have been a lot of acclamations in terms of the effectiveness of the products, the brandmark doesn’t reflect the reputation the products and the brand deserve. Nadine Artemis, the founder of Living Libations, is also known for her strong naturalistic beauty philosophy, and is serious and passionate about what she and her husband do. Despite the thoughtfulness of their philosophy, the brandmark doesn’t succeed in communicating that seriousness.

For the solution, I created a custom underwater typography wordmark by editing a photo of the wordmark submerged in a body of water. Not only I wanted to honor the raw and natural characteristic of the brand, but also wanted to communicate the meaning of the brand through a bit literal approach. The defintion of “living” is “alive”, “animate”, “something with actions”, and that of “libations” is “a drink poured out as an offering to a deity”.
